MCN Staff Answer: What Are You Thankful For?
We work in a world full of entrenched disparities, rising health inequities, and growing threats like climate change, yet there is so much to be grateful for, that drives our work forward, that helps us persevere. For this year’s Thanksgiving post, we decided to ask our staff at Migrant Clinicians Network:
What are you thankful for, here at work?
I am grateful that I get to partner with countless colleagues who inspire me, hold me up, and push me forward to fight the good fight for health equity and climate justice.
– Amy
I am thankful for the Health Network team! Everyone in Health Network is supportive, we all work together well, there is great communication. They really make me love working here. I am thankful for every experience I have had with a health center. Calling all health centers is always a learning experience! I am thankful for MCN - we are all a wonderful bunch to work with! I love everyone’s love and support of each other here even if we don't all work closely together. – Elizabeth
I am thankful for community health workers, community outreach workers, health educators and promotorxs de salud across the United States and Puerto Rico who not only care deeply about the health needs of the communities they serve, but also deliver solutions and important resources to empower them to better their health. I am also thankful for community-based organizations, such as Taller Salud, Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico, Ayuda Legal, La Colmena Cimarrona, la Casa de la Mujer Dominicana, la Casa Juana Colón, Coordinadora Paz para la Mujer, Waves Ahead, among many others whose work is focused on protecting and advocating for vulnerable and historically marginalized communities in Puerto Rico. THANK YOU! – Myrellis
I am grateful for the hardworking farmworkers who make this holiday season possible, who are the foundation of our entire agricultural system, and for all my colleagues who are working so hard to support farmworkers’ and other marginalized workers’ health needs so they can lead healthy lives. – Claire
– Nilsa
